Food & Wine expert

Hi, my name is Arianna, I’m your Food & Wine expert!
Good food is to me one of the pleasures of life one has absolutely to appreciate, that’s why I’d love to persuade you to think the same, obviously!
I believe that dining out in good company, discovering typical places as well as peculiar dishes is, beside being amazing, one of the many ways to learn more about the local culture, its history and customs.
I am a Bergamo native, and besides eating good food I also love cooking and, more in general, experimenting with it, so I’m looking forward to your questions, inquiries and suggestions on this matter. This blog is meant to exchange ideas and suggestions derived from my own experiences, knowledge and pleasure and yours. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Tips

For a TYPICAL ITALIAN MENU start from: hors-d’oeuvre dish ( typical cheeses, cold meats and salami, pickles…), then continue
with a first dish ( pasta, rice or similar), second dish (meat or fish) with various vegetables, and conclude with dessert (cakes, ice-cream) or fruits… but don’t go away without drinking lastly a very typical coffee Espresso!

Valcalepio wine
Wine not only accompanies a meal, it can also be a fundamental ingredient of any cuisine. Don’t miss the opportunity therefore to taste dishes such as Risotto al Valcalepio or a stew, leg of lamb and wild boar marinated with Valcalepio Rosso (red Valcalepio wine), and a sweet of zabaglione with Valcalepio Moscato Passito (a sweet wine made of dried Muscat grapes).

Lunch on Lake Iseo
If you happen to stop for lunch on Lake Iseo, you must definitely try one of the typical local dishes based on roasted or stuffed lake fish: trout, pike and baked tench with polenta. Don’t worry, you can burn off the calories by taking a walk or bike ride along the lake promenade or on Mont’Isola!

Useful information

Opening time
Would you like to stop in Bergamo for lunch? You’ll find that restaurants are generally open from midday to 2 pm and in the evening from 7 pm to 10 pm (with longer hours in upper Bergamo and the city centre). Many are closed on Mondays, but don’t worry! There are plenty of snack bars in Bergamo offering hot and cold dishes!
